Everything old is new again in TV land with Nine set to revive the classic game show Who Wants To Be A Millionaire.
Three primetime special episodes of the Eddie McGuire quiz will be filmed soon in Melbourne’s Dockland studios with the quiz set to make a January return to our screens.
While Nine has been continuing to produce a streamlined Hot Seat version of the quiz, this will be the first time the original format of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire has aired in Australia since 2010.
With the Australian Open tournament now commencing on February 8 rather than the previously expected date of January 20, Nine has been forced to scramble and commission new content to fill its summer schedule.
In addition to the three Millionaire specials, Nine has also hastily produced two Married At First Sight reunion dinner party specials, which are bound to be full of fireworks as past contestants desperately try to recapture their 15 minutes of fame.
Nine is yet to confirm an official airdate for the Millionaire return, but it looks likely it will be set to compete against I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here, and Channel 7’s expensive new family format Holey Moley.
