After recently being made redundant the popular presenter is back!
Popular weatherman and Melbourne identity Mike Larkan is returning to television.
In his new role Larkin will be a reporter for 10 News First, as a community reporter.
The news was first broken by entertainment reporter Peter Ford this morning on radio.
A Network 10 spokesperson confirmed the news, telling us:
“We’re thrilled Mike Larkan is back to present Mike’s Melbourne, every Friday in 10 News First. Mike’s Melbourne will shine a light on what’s happening in our city and across the state, showcasing events around town, as Victoria is brought back to life post lockdown.”
Larkan was made redundant during a big cull which saw high-profile names across the news division leave the network.
His role as local weather presenter was replaced by Adelaide’s Kate Freebairn who presents for Melbourne and Adelaide.
Speaking to TV Blackbox Larkan says:
“Changes were made at 10, I wasn’t part of the new change but I think they sort of missed the idea of me being on location, being out and around Melbourne.
When asked about the public reaction to him leaving 10 Larkan says:
