Nine has confirmed the appointment of highly experienced sports producer Murray Shaw as Nine’s new Head of Rugby.

The appointment comes after Nine and Stan recently secured exclusive broadcast rights for Australian Rugby.

Nine’s Director of Sport, Brent Williams, confirmed the appointment over the weekend in a note to staff;

Murray is an extremely experienced television producer having spent the last 20 years of his career specifically focusing on sport and live sports productions.

His time with both Fox Sports and Sky News has seen him involved in some of the biggest sporting events in the world including Olympic Games, Cricket World Cups, Rugby World Cups, Football World Cups and Socceroos matches both here in Australia and around the world.

He is a passionate sports fan in general but has a love for the Waratahs, Roosters and the Sydney Swans …but we won’t hold that against him.

His experience in sports broadcasting, stakeholder relationships and management of talent & production teams made him the ideal choice.”
