Nine has today announced a new broadcast deal with the English Cricket Board to secure exclusive broadcast rights for the 2023 Ashes series.
The five-test series is expected to be played at the traditional venues of Edgbaston, Headingley, The Oval, Lord’s and Manchester’s Old Trafford.
Time zone difference for the series allows Nine to broadcast the coverage into Australian primetime viewing, with the network promising Australian fans will not miss a single ball via the networks live and free coverage.
The move to secure the exclusive 2023 Ashes broadcast rights comes after the networks 2019 cricket coverage on 9Gem played a significant role in propelling Nine back to the Nb1 position and ended Seven’s 12-year winning streak.
This new broadcast deal comes after TV Blackbox revealed earlier this year Fox Sports had signed a broadcast deal with the ECB to secure all international tours (excluding The Ashes) played in England until 2023.
