Only the ABC turned up to play.

A buoyant State of Origin Game 2 (1,654,000) saw a resurgent NSW thrash Qld 😢 and set up a fabulous series decider next week. Nearly 60,000 more viewers than last week. Add in the Pre-Game (771,000) and Post-Game (428,000) and it was all Nine, all night. Nine first by a country mile in both primary (33.6%) and network (40.9%) shares.

The ABC led with their chin and benefitted, at least on their primary channel. 7:30 (643,000), Hard Quiz (610,000), Gruen (627,000), Reputation Rehab (397,000), and Planet America (370,000) all best in their timeslot other than the Footy. ABC slide into second for primary (14%) and third for network (18.4%) shares.

Home and Away (505,000) started Seven’s night of nope. My Houseful of Animals (236,000) and Britain’s Got Talent (186,000) prove to obviously be programming thrown to the wolves as the big red train gives up on the night. Seven had a swing and drop into third when looking at primary (12.9%) share, and second in network (21%) share.

There is no way to spin this to help 10. The Project (257,000 6:30pm; 403,000 7pm) led with its chin; the 7pm half hour being 10’s best(!). Two episodes of Jamie’s Quick & Easy Food (272,000; 228,000) were, at best, ill-advised, and US imports The Masked Singer USA (125,000) coupled a double repeat episode of Bull (135,000; 114,000) could not have drawn less interest. 10 didn’t even turn up, delivering a distant fourth place in primary (7.1%) and network (13.2%) shares.

Heeler-watchâ„¢ update: Bluey (416,000 am; 226,000 pm) unbeatable by any program on a multi-channel, or by most of Seven and 10’s primetime schedule.

When we talk about breakfast, Sunrise (270,000) maintains a sizeable lead over ABC Breakfast (221,000 [138,000 ABC; 83,000 ABC News]) and The Today Show (215,000).

All ratings data listed is Five City Metro, overnights only.
