A light-on night offers little challenge to Nine’s reality construction juggernaut.

Knowing that The Block (828,000) is almost done the audiences are hanging in with it, and there’s daylight between it and its competitors at 7:30pm. Australian Crime Stories (407,000) benefits from the lead-in halo, and Westgate Bridge Disasters (229,000) the best at 9:30pm by far. A Current Affair (715,000) leads the pack at 7pm. Nine ran in first, both in primary (23%) and network (30.9%) shares.

SAS Australia (582,000) super consistent for Seven – just not competing on its first airing, despite the catch up numbers. A repeat of blockbuster movie Pacific Rim (170,000) really shouldn’t have bothered and shows how bare the cupboard is. Home and Away (540,000) also consistent yet distant. Seven distinctly in second for both primary (18.3%) and network (27%) shares.

The ABC’s night starts reasonably well with 7:30 (597,000) and slides into a heap afterwards. Diminishing interest in Outback Ringer (362,000) and little-to-none in the offerings after 8:30pm of Walkabout Wickets (179,000) and Searching for Superhuman (126,000) still managed to keep Aunty ahead of 10. ABC third in shares primary (10.2%) and network (16.7%).

There were more people watching children’s programming than watched 10’s primtime schedule. Another repeat of Ambulance Australia (248,000), chased by a new episode of NCIS: Los Angeles (148,000) at 9pm delivered criminally small numbers. Perhaps the NCIS team should look into who killed 10’s programming team? The Project (283,000 6:30pm; 487,000 7pm) also struggles with nothing to prop it up from 7:30pm. 10 fourth again in primary (9.6%) and in network (16.6%) shares.

In more Heeler-watchâ„¢, Bluey (382,000 am; 266,000 pm) continues to be the biggest show on the multi-channels by a country mile…and bigger than 10’s entire primetime schedule.

Sunrise (277,000) continues its almost unbeaten run at breakfast, ahead of ABC Breakfast (228,000 [150,000 ABC; 78,000 ABC News]) and The Today Show (208,000).
