This year’s unforgettable Everest Carnival is set for a thrilling finale this Saturday when the pick of the nation’s two-year-old thoroughbreds get their chance to shine in the $1 million Golden Gift at Rosehill Gardens, while Seven will also bring fans all the action from a big day’s racing at Doomben.

The Golden Gift gives racing lovers an early look at Australia’s most promising young horses, who will have plenty of incentive to put their best foot forward in the 1100m feature at Rosehill Gardens, with the winner almost certain to earn a spot in Australia’s premier race for two-year-olds – the $3.5 million Golden Slipper in March 2021.

Peter and Paul Snowden-trained colt Captivant is likely to jump as favourite after his impressive win on debut in the Victory Vein Stakes at Randwick. But the Snowdens also have high hopes for filly Mura Mura following her third placing in the Kirkham Plate, while Inglis Banner winner Sneaky Five, Ghostwriter, Athelric and Cerda all shape as exciting prospects.

Racing’s premier team will again be led by Australia’s pre-eminent broadcaster Bruce McAvaney on Saturday. Joining him will be Katelyn Mallyon, Richard Freedman and Gerard Middleton at Rosehill Gardens, while Sky Racing’s Lizzie Jelfs will be trackside to bring fans all the news and interviews.

At Doomben, the Open Quality Handicap (1350m) headlines the final Brisbane meeting before the start of the Summer Racing Carnival next weekend, with Rough Habit winner Ballistic Boy, Winter Carnival heroine Love You Lucy and Magic Millions 3YO Guineas winner Boomsara all set to do battle.

Among the other highlights on a nine-race card at Rosehill Gardens is the Hot Danish Stakes (1400m) for fillies and mares. Godolphin’s Savatiano looms as the horse to beat in the prestigious Group 2 race, but she’ll face stiff opposition from Madam Rouge, Positive Peace, Sweet Deal and Wandabaa, while Golden Pendant winner Subpoenaed can’t be discounted either.

Racing fans can keep across all of Saturday’s action on the @7HorseRacing social pages on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
