Audiences continue to soften ever so slightly on Seven’s new celeb reality show.
The Block (830,000) head and shoulders above its timeslot competition, though as usual dipping from Sunday’s massive reveal episode. A repeat airing of the Bond flick Casino Royale (304,000) was really only a distraction after 8:30pm on Nine. Combined, however, it was enough to land them in first place in the primary (21.5%) and network (29.4%) share race.
Seven’s SAS Australia (671,000) slips again but still solid in second place. A double episode of The Rookie (284,000; 250,000) barely raised a blip, and saw the ‘big red train’ pull into the station second for primary (18.2%) and network (26%) shares.
10 continue to struggle as Junior MasterChef Australia (486,000) remains soft as it heads into semi-final territory, while Have You Been Paying Attention? (642,000) bounces up and adds additional eyes to an otherwise bleak ratings haul. The Melbourne Cup Preview show (149,000) did nothing even close to worth crowing about. A difficult night landing just in third place overall regarding primary (13.3%) and network (19.7%) shares.
The Monday night current affairs schedule on the ABC only ever consistent: Australian Story (529,000), Four Corners (374,000), Media Watch (430,000), and Q&A (320,000). This, coupled with 10’s poor early evening showing saw it slide just into fourth place in primary (13%) and network (17.6%) shares.
Sunrise (253,000) kicks off the week with a big daily win over The Today Show (220,000) and ABC Breakfast (181,000 [106,000 ABC; 75,000 ABC News]).
