Seven’s new primetime game show pushes hard but can’t beat Nine’s reality construction machine.
Seven are throwing everything they have at Nine in these last few weeks of official ratings for the year, including a new primetime spin on their successful pre-News game show. Beat the Chasers (660,000) drew a reasonable audience, though it all faded from 8:30pm as few tuned in for Crime Investigation Australia (262,000).
Nine ruled the roost as The Block (1,014,000) and 60 Minutes (649,000) led them to a solid win for the night.
Junior MasterChef Australia (528,000) and a double FBI (276,000; 224,000) left them lagging in a distant third.
ABC’s Sunday night double of Restoration Australia (540,000) and new Hugh Laurie mini-series Roadkill (403,000) was patronised by a solid audience. The Sound (112,000) returned for AusMusic month and season two at 6pm to an understandable though criminally small audience (toughest timeslot in the business!).
The morning fodder for Sunday continued as normal, with Weekend Sunrise (238,000) leading Weekend Today (214,000) and Weekend Breakfast (230,000 [125,000 ABC; 105,000 ABC News]). ABC’s Insiders (470,000 [277,000 ABC; 193,000 ABC News]) and Offsiders (235,000 [154,000 ABC; 81,000 ABC News]) again consistent.
