The Federal Government has appointed Warren Mundine AO as a part-time non-executive Director on the SBS Board.
Mr Mundine commences his five-year appointment to the role immediately.
He has previously represented both sides of politics having been a former Liberal candidate in 2019, and serving one term as ALP national president in 2007. He has also previously served as chairman of the Indigenous Advisory Council.
Mundine is also a regular media performer providing social commentary on Indigenous issues.
His appointment fills a vacancy created with the retirement of Dr Bulent Hass Dellal on 2 June 2020 and the subsequent appointment of an existing non-executive Director, Mr George Savvides AM, to the position of Chair of the SBS Board on 9 July 2020.
Minister for Communications, Cyber Safety and the Arts, the Hon Paul Fletcher MP, congratulated Mr Mundine on his appointment to the SBS Board.

Mr Mundine is a member of the Bundjalung, Gumbaynggirr and Yuin people of NSW.
He is Chairman of the Australian Indigenous Education Foundation and has served as Chairman and Director of the NASIDA Dance College and Foundation.
