As an accomplished actor he was always able to hide behind a mask, but now Firass Dirani’s true personality has been laid bare… and viewers don’t like what they see
‘They’ve given me the villain edit’
It’s become the catch-cry of any reality TV contestant who doesn’t like the way they’ve been portrayed.
And while editors in windowless suites certainly know the dark art of manipulation, at the end of the day they can’t put words in your mouth and can’t make you act like an idiot.
Unfortunately for Firass Dirani, his own actions while filming SAS Australia for Channel 7 have led to the backlash he is currently copping. His antics on social media and in interviews has only provided further evidence that he is not a victim of the ‘villain edit’, but is simply facing the consequences of his own actions.
Time and time again in SAS Australia, he has talked back and disrespected the elite staff who are training 17 celebrities as though they are recruiting for the actual armed services. His actions have directly led to multiple people quitting the series after the punishments the group received because of Dirani’s actions.
Now in a ham-fisted attempt to take control of the narrative, Dirani is now blaming racism for his issues.

After Shannon Ponton (a former trainer on The Biggest Loser) described Dirani’s behaviour as that of a ‘sociopath’, Dirani hit back labelling him a ‘redneck’.
Speaking to The Daily Mail Dirani said:
‘I find it strange where this vile aggressive labelling behaviour is coming from? I suspect there’s more prejudice against me than I imagined,
‘Feels like a redneck to me. Him and his followers. That’s called a line in the sand.’
While Firass might have been the victim of racism in this country in the past, this time he is hurling powerful slurs as a distraction from his own bad behaviour.
Being called out for your actions is not racism.
It’s this type of behaviour that now makes Dirani unemployable.
As an actor in shows like Underbelly and House Husbands Firass has become a household favourite. But as an actor he can hide behind a character. Now that he’s appearing in a reality TV show the audience are judging the man himself — and they don’t like what they see.
TV executives will be taking note. Dirani is now a liability. Will viewers avoid his next project because they don’t like the man? If he has shown this type of behaviour off-screen during his previous projects producers will use his most recent appearance as an excuse not to hire him.
Producers will only tolerate off-screen antics when you are a valuable commodity – but they will always remember!
Anyone who goes on a reality TV show does so in order to enhance their public persona (and make a bit of money). I hope the money was good Firass because you’ve blown it mate.
