Seven’s new celebrity torture-porn series gets the eyeball advantage on its first run.
There was always going to be questions if all the promotion was enough, and in the first outing it proved to be, with SAS Australia delivering 834,000 viewers to The Block‘s 783,000. Nine’s stripped reality building show is notorious for shrinking numbers as it runs across the week, though Seven’s offering has landed and now that everyone has seen what it’s about will all the rubberneckers return? Seven are banking on it.
Junior MasterChef Australia maintained it’s low ratings run – another record low this season, drawing a meagre 454,000 against its commercial rivals. At least Have You Been Paying Attention? bolstered their night, nearly doubling its lead-in on 735,000.
In the morning, Sunrise (233,000) continues to lead though for Monday the margin slimmed. The Today Show (216,000) was close behind, and ABC Breakfast (186,000) maintained its reasonable position in third.
The ABC’s Monday night current affairs block of 7:30 (602,000), Australian Story (617,000), Four Corners (478,000) and Media Watch (491,000) continues to perform consistently well across the evening and week-to-week.
