Thrilling Magpie victory over West Coast delivers massive Saturday ratings result

Week One of the AFL Final series has concluded with another massive ratings result.

Collingwood’s shock one-point win over West Coast was the highest rating Saturday night game of 2020. The trilling contest concluded the first week of Finals Footy with an audience 1.176m national / 886k metro.

The big result included an FTA audience of 434k in Melbourne and 250k in Perth.

Seven’s average metro audience was up by 16 per cent on last year’s week one Saturday night final between the Brisbane Lions and Richmond. The average audience in Perth more than doubled year on year, while Sydney was up 23 per cent and Melbourne up 3 per cent.

An additional 277k watched the game nationally on Fox Footy (Not including streaming).

Earlier in the day, St Kilda’s three-point win over the Western Bulldogs was the highest rating Saturday Afternoon Match of the 2020 season. The game delivered a free-to-air audience of 874k national / 690k metro on Seven and 7Mate.

An additional 256k watched the afternoon game nationally on Fox Footy (Not including streaming).

The metro FTA audience was 25 per cent higher than last year’s corresponding fixture between the GWS Giants and Bulldogs, while the ratings also spiked year on year in Melbourne (46 per cent) and Brisbane (12 per cent).

  • Nine National average audience: 80,000
  • (5 City: 49,000 / Regional: 31,000)

BRONCOS v WARRIORS (coverage from 3:00pm)

  • Nine National average audience: 120,000
  • (5 City: 68,000 / Regional: 52,000)
  • Metro average of 68,000 is an increase of 6% over the corresponding game year-on-year
  • Regional average of 52,000 is an increase of 13% over the corresponding game year-on-year
