The AFL finals series explodes into action on Seven this Thursday night with all four of the opening week’s marquee match-ups LIVE and FREE.
The action begins with the First Qualifying Final between minor premier Port Adelaide and the powerhouse Geelong Cats.
A preliminary final spot will be on the line when the Power and Cats do battle at Adelaide Oval, with Port hunting its first finals win since 2014 and Geelong hell-bent on overcoming its disappointing recent finals record. Fans can catch all the high-stakes action from 7.00pm AEST Thursday on Channel 7 and 7mate.
On Friday night, the Brisbane Lions and Richmond will bare their claws as they square off in a qualifying final at the Gabba for the second straight year. Seven’s broadcast of the Second Qualifying Final begins at 7.00pm AEST on Channel 7 and 7mate, when Chris Fagan’s exciting young Lions will be on a mission to avenge last year’s loss while the battle-hardened Tigers bid to keep their premiership defence on track.
Then on Sudden-Death Saturday, footy fans can settle in for an electrifying elimination final double-header from 4.00pm AEST on Channel 7 and 7mate.
First, two of the competition’s hardest-running teams, St Kilda and the Western Bulldogs, clash at the Gabba in the Second Elimination Final, before 2018 Grand Final foes West Coast and Collingwood renew their epic rivalry in the First Elimination Final at Optus Stadium.
And the finals will get off to an early start with The Front Bar moving to Wednesday this week, when Mick Molloy, Sam Pang and Andy Maher will celebrate footy’s lighter side with some of the game’s biggest names at 8.30pm AEST on Channel 7 and 7plus.
Managing Director Seven Melbourne and Head of Network Sport Lewis Martin commented:
“In a season of seemingly endless twists and turns it’s fitting we find ourselves on the brink of a finals series that shapes as one of the most unpredictable of recent times. In one corner, we’ve got proven finals performers in Richmond, Geelong, West Coast and Collingwood.
“But in the other we’ve got Port Adelaide, Brisbane Lions, St Kilda and Western Bulldogs – each a team on the rise, each more than capable of going all the way. All four finals this week are set to be classic contests and footy fans can catch every second of the action LIVE and FREE on Seven.”
Post-match on Friday night, Adam Cooney and Cam Luke will settle in on the Armchair Experts sofa, offering viewers their unique take on the big match between the Lions and the Tigers.
