Emerging stars Rothfire and Russian Camelot will look to continue their sizzling starts to the Spring Racing Carnival on Saturday, when Seven will bring fans all the LIVE and FREE action from Golden Rose Day at Rosehill Gardens and Underwood Stakes Day at Caulfield.

Rothfire will start favourite in the $1 million Group 1 Golden Rose Stakes (1400m) at Rosehill Gardens – the Spring Carnival’s first major event for three-year-olds – after his dominant win in the Run To The Rose.

But the Robert Heathcote-trained gelding will face fierce opposition from Team Hawkes stablemates North Pacific and Ole Kirk, who finished third and second respectively in the Run To The Rose, along with Peltzer and Global Quest.

At Caulfield, Russian Camelot shapes as the horse to beat in the Group 1 Underwood Stakes (1800m) after starting his spring campaign with an eye-catching second in the Makybe Diva Stakes.

Star West Australian mare Arcadia Queen can’t be discounted, however, after getting back to her best with a strong second in the Let’s Elope Stakes, while Mr Quickie, Feehan Stakes winner Humidor, Harbour Views and The Chosen One should also be right in the mix.

Australia’s pre-eminent broadcaster Bruce McAvaney will again lead racing’s best commentary team, which on Saturday features Hamish McLachlan, Katelyn Mallyon and prominent Victorian trainer Henry Dwyer.

Jason Richardson and Sky Racing’s Lizzie Jelfs will also be trackside at Caulfield and Rosehill Gardens respectively, bringing fans all the news and interviews.

Saturday’s other highlights include the Group 2 Golden Pendant (1400m) and Shannon Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill Gardens, and the Thousand Guineas Prelude (1400m) and Caulfield Guineas Prelude (1400m) at Caulfield.
