One of the biggest grudges in the UFC will be settled live and exclusive on ESPN this Sunday September 20 at UFC Fight Night: Covington vs Woodley (10:00am AEST, ESPN2).
UFC Welterweight’s Colby Covington and Tyron Woodley have a long held rivalry, and the war of words will finally turn physical when the pair square off in the Octagon at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
Woodley is a former UFC Welterweight champion and Covington is a former interim UFC Welterweight champion, and both know victory on Sunday could earn them a future shot at the divisions’ current king, Kamaru Usman.
Tyron Woodley lost his UFC crown to Usman in March 2019, whilst Usman defeated Covington in his first defence of the Welterweight title at UFC 245 in December.
UFC fans have been calling for the organization to make the Covington-Woodley showdown, and at UFC Fight Night: Covington vs Woodley, the fans will finally get their wish.
Sunday’s main event is the highlight of a bumper UFC Fight Night: Covington vs Woodley card that also includes Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone’s return to the Octagon.
Cerrone is coming off successive defeats in the UFC and will face another stern test against ‘The Hybrid’ Niko Price, in the co-main event.
Khazmat Chimaev and Gerald Meerschaert also go head to head in the Middleweight division, in a fight that has all the potential to steal the show.
ESPN’s coverage begins at 7:00am AEST on ESPN2, with the UFC Fight Night: Covington vs Woodley Prelims, before the UFC Fight Night: Covington vs Woodley Main Card begins at 10:00am AEST on ESPN2.
