LIZ HAYES to host new series UNDER INVESTIGATION on Nine

Nine looks set to expand its current affairs line-up with the addition of a new program to be hosted by Liz Hayes

The Australian reports 60 Minutes stalwart Liz Hayes will host a new primetime format in 2021, Under Investigation.

The new series will likely air in a mid-week timeslot and will feature investigations into major public events and mysteries. Hayes will be joined by specialist investigators and experts to help provide new insights into the stories.

The decision by Nine to commission Under Investigation comes after Seven has found success this year by airing a series of primetime specials commission by 7News.

News programming has been a consistent ratings winner in 2020 due to dramatic events including bushfires and COVID-19. The genre is now seen as a key area where free-to-air broadcasters can turn-around content quickly and compete against streaming rivals such as Netflix.

Nine is expected to confirm Under Investigation at its Upfronts event this week.
