UNDERWOOD WILL CALL HER FIRST GAME ON FOXTEL AS PART OF FOX FOOTY FRENZY 2.0
Ground-breaking sports broadcaster and journalist Kelli Underwood will make her return to the television commentary box tonight during FOX FOOTY Frenzy 2.0, calling the blockbuster between Richmond and Fremantle.
After more than a decade after becoming the first female AFL caller in history, Underwood will again take her seat in the commentary box alongside FOX FOOTY experts Jason Dunstall, David King and fellow caller Mark Howard.
Since her debut with Network 10 in 2009, Underwood has been a pioneer in the industry, having called AFL for more than a decade on ABC Radio and all AFLW seasons for FOX FOOTY.
Commenting on her return to commentary, Underwood said
“I’ve called hundreds and hundreds of games now and for me it’s my job, it’s what I do, so it was a no brainer. All I’ve ever wanted to do is be good at my job and earn people’s respect,”
Steve Crawley, Executive Director, Fox Sports added;
“It’s 2020, it’s old fashioned to carry on about women in sport and I honestly believe that’s something people did a long time ago. If someone is good enough to call they’re good enough to call, it’s not about their gender,”
Underwood will join the commentary box again during round 16 when Brisbane take on Gold Coast and more immediately this Sunday, hosting Sunday Footy on FOX FOOTY.
Foxtel is the only place on television fans can watch every one of the 33 games in just less than three weeks live ad-break free, siren-to-siren as part of FOX FOOTY Frenzy 2.0.
