Fetch TV has confirmed details of a new partnership that will see the Metrological Application Platform integrated onto the Fetch service.

The cloud-based Metrological Application Platform will allow Fetch to integrate premium OTT services, and niche and localized apps into one single viewer experience.

From next year, Fetch subscribers will gain access to a range of additional apps and services, complementing the apps that are already available on the Fetch service.

A unified TV App Store and back-office product suite will enable Fetch to onboard, monetise and optimise the life cycle of apps across their set-top boxes.

Fetch will also utilise the Metrological Lightning Framework to enhance the performance of the Fetch user interface resulting in noticeably smoother transitions and animations.

Metrological offers content providers access to the open Lightning Software Development Kit (SDK) for quick app development, with a single app build facilitating distribution to a global footprint of operators.

Fetch will deploy the Metrological Application Platform on its existing service in Australia and has secured rights for the New Zealand market. Fetch will work with Metrological and its partners to expand the available portfolio of local and international apps.

Scott Lorson, CEO of Fetch TV welcomed the new partnership;

“The worlds of traditional broadcast TV and OTT services have collided, driven by consumers’ insatiable appetite for more and varied content. As a master aggregator, Fetch is focused on constantly expanding our content offering and on delivering a truly integrated user experience. The partnership with Metrological enhances our ability to do both and provides a clear path for servicing the long tail of great content now available,”

“Metrological has developed market leading technology and is clearly positioned as the world’s leading cloud-based TV application platform. Fetch is thrilled to join leading Tier 1 operators, like Comcast, Liberty Global, Vodafone and Turkcell, in embracing the Metrological platform.”

  1. Having read this article – closely I have no idea what it is about or what to expect from these apps. We have been long time users of fetch T V .Are these apps designed for entertainment..??

  2. Ha! I agree with the other comment. This article makes no sense. I presume it’s written for tech people. I can follow most things but have no idea what the writer is talking about.
