Cactus put her heart on the line tonight for The Masked Singer Australia semi-finals with Bonnie Tyler’s ballad Total Eclipse Of The Heart.

However, it was not enough to prickle the fancy of our judging panel and virtual audience, leaving leading lady Lucy Durack to kiss her secrecy goodbye when she was forced to take it off.

It was another win on the board for detective Dannii Minogue, who is now officially in contention for a job with the FBI after she correctly matched the feet on our Cactus to musical queen Lucy Durack. This sees Dannii locked with fellow showbiz sleuth Jackie O, now that both have correctly guessed two masks this season. Game on, musos!

Guided by the clues, Urzila hoped Cactus was British-American actress Jane Seymour, Dave Hughes locked in Australian singer-songwriter Amy Shark, and Jackie O hoped for a third win with singer and entertainment personality, Em Rusciano.

When questioned on why she wanted to join The Masked Singer Australia, Lucy said:

“I was such a fan of the show, I did not miss one episode last year. The mask is so much fun because you have this freedom to just have a go. I got to sing so many songs I never thought I would have a go at. I’m normally singing all musical theatre!”

Lucy gave a shout out to her #1 fan watching at home:

“I can’t wait for my daughter Polly to see that it’s me!”

While Lucy’s singing journey ended tonight, our five other masks made it through off the back of some very spicy performances.

Firecracker Frillneck sent a rocket up our panel, as they busted out of their seats to do the watusi to his energetic take on Wilson Pickett’s Land Of 1000 Dances, proving his frill still gives Urzila Carlson a thrill.

Bushranger channelled their inner sass with a pulsating dance number to Normani’s Motivation, while Queen gave an operatic edge to Taylor Swift’s Shake It Off. Puppet pulled on the heart strings with Ed Sheeran’s Thinking Out Loud, though it still managed to stir up the pupaphobia that lives deep within Dannii Minogue.

To close out the semi finals, Kitten had Hughesy playing air guitar to Blink 182’s All The Small Things.

Tomorrow our Top 5 will give it everything they’ve got in an attempt to shimmy through to the final week of The Masked Singer Australia.

The Masked Singer Australia continues Tuesday at 7.30pm on 10 and WIN Networks.
