Effective today, Nine has dumped repeats of Ellen to re-run the popular 2004-2012 series, Desperate Housewives, a show that was partly responsible for turning around the Seven Network all those years ago.
With ongoing issues facing the set of Ellen amid allegations of a toxic environment, Nine is yet to renew its broadcast agreement for the daytime talkshow, and has now opted to stop airing repeat episodes on the main channel.
A spokesperson for Nine confirmed the decision telling TV Blackbox:
“We are resting Ellen repeats on Nine and have replaced with Desperate Housewives”
TV Blackbox understands talks are continuing between Nine and Warner Bros regarding securing the new season which is currently scheduled to commence in the US on September 14. The series return is expected to be a ratings blockbuster with viewers eager to see how the host addresses the recent controversy.
Repeats of Ellen are still available on 9Gem at 10:30am. The program is also available on Foxtels Arena channel.
