7NEWS Perth has set an Australian record this week, recording a staggering 20 years of ratings wins in a row, solidifying the fact that it remains Perth’s most valued and trusted news source.
The team, led by seasoned presenters Susannah Carr and Rick Ardon, were humbled by the news giving credit to generations of West Australians for their loyal support. Each presenter agreed they remain committed to presenting a world-class 6pm bulletin every night – covering every major WA story as well as from around the globe.
In what has undoubtedly been an exceptional year for news, 7NEWS Perth has grown in audience across its weekday and weekend 6pm bulletins YOY – with Monday to Friday news increasing its 6pm to 6:30pm Total People audience by 13.2%, its 6:30pm to 7pm Total People audience by 27.2%. Meanwhile the Seven Network’s main 6pm news competitor has declined in viewership, despite the demand for news in the global pandemic.
The new weekend line-up, anchored by Angela Tsun and Tim McMillan, has also delivered a stand-out performance for the network, increasing its Saturday night bulletin by Total People 25.5% and the Sunday night bulletin by Total People 4.2%.
7NEWS Perth has proven itself a leader in not only its nightly news coverage but also a network capable of creating change thanks to its locally produced current affairs show, Flashpoint. The Seven Network in Perthis also now the only local broadcaster delivering local news when Perth wakes up – with live bulletins hosted by Matt Tinney during WA’s number one breakfast show, Sunrise.
