With COVID lockdowns continuing to cause problems for producers, Seven has made the bold decision to move production of one of its most important shows.
The Australian reports Seven is this week moving the set for top-rating game show The Chase from Melbourne to Sydney.
Melbourne’s strict COVID rules do allow for the continuation of filming for existing television productions, meaning The Chase could have continued production in Melbourne.
However, the rules prevent the commencement of filming on new programs. Seven recently announced the commissioning of spin-off series Beat The Chasers, which the network intends to air in primetime later this year.
The decision to move The Chase to Sydney will allow the network to produce both programs without interruption. A casting call for Sydney based contestants will be released this week.
Production on Nine’s rival quiz format Millionaire Hot Seat has been suspended for an extended period due to limitations on studio audiences. Nine is airing a mix of new and repeat episodes each week.
I reckon that all Melbourne residents who want to leave Melbournes n Victoria be allowed to if they are proven negative to covid 19.
