The hosts of Channel 10’s morning show have spoken out about the events of the past 24 hours in an emotional segment

Kerri-Anne Kennerley reacts to news she is leaving Studio 10

It’s been a rocky road for Studio 10 ever since its inception… and I speak from personal experience.

As the founding Executive Producer of the show I never felt the show was safe from the axe. Well, despite those fears the show will continue, albeit in a different format, after major budget cuts take affect in the coming weeks.

As previously reported Channel 10 is slashing its news programming budget, except for The Project which has been protected from any major cuts.

Yesterday the show was watched by 59,000 in the 5 cap cities, down on the 100k+ it was achieving in 2017.

This morning the hosts of Studio 10 took a moment to talk about the cuts.

Host Sarah Harris confirmed there would be changes, but also revealed she didn’t know what those changes would be, saying:

“It’s been a huge 24 hours at ten. By now you’ve probably read all about the cuts that have had to be made at the network and it’s all true. In a few weeks time Studio 10, our little show, will look very different to what it does now.

“We will keep you updated with what’s going on here once we know”

Kerri-Anne Kennerley, in true showbiz style, made plenty of jokes before addressing the audience seriously:

“I’m very, very sad because I will miss, miss you guys.

“But that said, it is what it is. You just have to suck it up and move on”

Original host Joe Hildebrand acknowledged the harsh economic reality facing all industries and acknowledged his own future with the network is still up in the air:

Joe Hildebrand noted job losses are happening throughout the community

“I don’t know what’s going to happen with me, we’re still talking about it but it’s been an amazing seven years. I remember when it was just me and Ita (Buttrose) and this is even before there was a studio 10, it was before it even had a name. It’s been an extraordinary run”

Host and entertainment reporter Angela Bishop has survived the cuts and is rumoured to be co-hosting a retooled format of the show with Sarah Harris. It’s believed the new format will resemble Studio 10‘s competitors with a double-header with special guests talking hot topics.

Bishop shone light on the people behind the scenes who have not been acknowledged in the headlines:

Angela Bishop paid tribute to the people behind the scenes who are losing their jobs

“It’s not just the people you saw in the headlines in the papers, it’s operations teams, it’s people, it’s camera crews, studio crews in other states and a lot of people who have a really long history here at network ten and who are kind of part of the DNA.”

As is right, the final word was left to Harris who summed up how everyone is feeling:

“We’re just all so heartbroken for our friends, it’s been gut-wrenching to hear the news. It is a shocking, shocking economic reality that we’re facing at the moment.”

  1. SO upset to hear of Georgina Lewis being axed from reading our news.
I only watched this chanel because of her lovely personality & informative delivery of our Qld news.
I’ll move now to another chanel. ?

  2. How can you live with yourself. After everything that KAK has bee through she said that work was one thing keep going and now you’ve taken that away from her. This is unforgivable. Channel 10 calls itself a family and you do this to one of your own.

  3. I can’t fathom why they would let go of someone like Georgina Lewis. Her professional delivery of the news is second to none and she’s well and truly been an asset to Network 10 in Brisbane for many, many years.

I sincerely hope Queenslanders will see her on television again soon. Surely, there’s room for her over on the other channels, even if it’s working as a reporter or perhaps co-presenting the weekend news on Channel 9 with Jonathan Uptin?

  4. So sad that WA channel 10 is also going to be axed. Since we have had Monika Kos
Reading our News here it has be a pleasure to WATCH.when this stops here .
    It’d Goodbye Channel 10

    • I totally agree with you. I am a Perth boy and was very excited that Monika Kos was picked up by 10 after the axing of Today Tonight. She is a super real pleasure. Very sad 🙁

  5. Will not be watching channel 10 anymore. How can you treat your staff like that. How about keeping all the staff and sack the management

  6. I am so sad you have got rid of KAK and Natasha will not be tuning in Any more bad mistake ,you need to have people who say what it is .

  7. Yes, Monika Kos is very good at her job, and so is Natarsha Belling, I’m sorry they won’t be on air. Hopefully they’ll find other roles soon. I hope so, and wish all affected by the cuts the best.

  8. So devastated to hear of Natarsha s sacking from the news on studio 10.
She is such a talented and professional person with a fantastic sense of humour she fitted in with the rest of presenters very well. You should have sacked Narellda.
She stumbles through the news reports, has no sense of humour at all and just doesn’t fit. When they are interviewing guests she just sits there. Shame on you channel 10. I too won’t be watching.

  9. I click to another channel the moment The Project and its un-funny opinionated mob comes on. Can’t stand the professor. Why is The Project a protected species? That is where cuts should start.

  10. In Adelaide we are losing among many, 2 quite wonderful people, Rebecca and Kate who give us the news and weather daily, so now the few viewers who stay with 10 will get their news from Melbourne, so South Australian info. will be zilch. A bad move, and the savings made will be lost in advertising and viewers.

  11. I switched to Studio 10 because I enjoyed the banter. Love Joe he is very balanced. KAK gave a voice to us baby boomers, who probably are your biggest audience. Love The Denises and Angela, but if anyone had to go it should have been Niralda , nice lady but not up to standard of the rest of the team. Get rid of the Project , can’t watch that show at all.

  12. What ever you do, don’t sack Joe! He is an incredible intelligent and personable guy with strong views that we need to hear. He’s rational and measured with his views. Don’t sack Joe

  13. Keep Joe and Natasha. Sarah is great with Joe I feel Angela should go she puts a downer on Joe’s lovely rants. You had it right at first with Jes and Ita. Off to 7 I go unfortunately. Listen to your viewers. Going off the Project too

  14. Joe h shld have gone, he rambels on n on with Um every second, he can’t string a sentence together without Um um n um, even his buddies poke fun ov him cos ov it. U don’t need two people doing Showbiz stories, leave it t Angela, n u don’t need Coleman , SAVINGS ALREADY, u don’t need a separate news reader either, $$$$$

  15. Agree with get rid of The Project and keep KAK and Tarsha. They more representative of the retired audience which are home watching in the morning. Get rid of Jonno and Suzanne!! Oh my God who thought her voice was suitable for tv!!!!
I mute the ads which are beyond annoying but did love the show. Will only watch now as love Sarah and Joe but if they go, so does channel 10

  16. So so sad to see natasha go, joe is a mumbler not an asset to channel 10 in my eyes. If i have to see Ding dong appear i will be fuming. Good choice to let KAK go, she can afford to retire. Rest of team i enjoy them. Love Sarah and Angela. God bless you Tash may you find a good place where ever you go.

  17. Seriously, keeping Joe while he constantly raises his drug habits is despicable, Sarah is the dummest on the show, and Ange loves Ange and Narelda is boring, your keeping the wrong crew, no more real people left, time to get the remote.

  18. Love joe and tash. Tash was such a professional who had a great sense of humour . Will miss Kerry Anne with her honest views which we need. Niralda as gorgeous as she is doesn’t contribute to anything very boring. Back to watching 7

  19. I can’t believe you have let go the best people that made the show great! Joe and KaK made it so fun and interesting.you have sacked the wrong people!! also Natasha Belling was awsome! i won’t be watching anymore, you have made it boring! taking the fun people away, so sad.

  20. yes i agree, the new format is boring, why put on Tristan Mc manus on if you are supposed of let the others go due to wage cuts. i have nothing against him but the new show is not the same and i will not be watching anymore as i don’t enjoy it….BIG MISTAKE WHAT THEY HAVE DONE

  21. can someone please tell the producers of our (previous) favourite show Studio 10 to put sub titles as we cannot understand the new guy’s accent -why can’t we have Australians on these shows – very disappointed that we had to change channels for our morning viewing

  22. I cannot believe that KAK was treated so badly at Channel Nine and now Channel Ten! Do you people realise how amazing this woman is? She stood by her husband before he died and no one seemed to help her! Also, the people that she has met over the years will knock you over – if you knew who they were.

I worked with KAK over 15 years ago @ Channel Nine and you would not have met such a wonderful lady and admired by everyone who knew and met her!

I hope she receives the rest and joy that she so truly deserves!
