A week of finales is approaching with The Voice, Big Brother and Masterchef Australia all wrapping up across three massive nights of Television.
The Voice will wrap up for 2020 on Sunday July 19. This season started strongly but has been affected by COVID, limiting studio audience involvement and forcing star judges Kelly Rowland and Boy George to appear by satellite. Ratings in recent weeks have been on the decline, and Nine would have to be thinking about how they can reboot the show for 2021.
Masterchef Australia will then wrap up what has been arguable its most successful season since its premiere on Monday July 20. A freshly rebooted judging line-up, plus the return of All-star contestants has made this the feel-good hit of the year at a time when viewers desperately needed a distraction from the real world.
Big Brother is rumoured to be concluding on Wednesday July 22 although this is yet to be confirmed by the network. Seven is giving little away about the live finale which will be produced by Sunrise EP, Michael Pell. While this reboot of the classic reality format has not been a ratings blockbuster, it has performed strongly in the demos and been a critical factor in kickstarting the network’s resurgence.
