Dirty laundry is set to be aired publicly with revelations the former business manager of Daryl Somers is threatening to take the host and Executive Producer of Hey Hey It’s Saturday! to court after relationships broke down between the pair.
In a lengthy press release Alex Mathey, the chief executive and group legal counsel for Daryl Somers, says his legal team are finalising proceedings.
Mathey goes on to say;
“I consider that the Somers have treated me appallingly and, in fact, cruelly – in contravention of particular laws as well as in violation of generally accepted standards and norms of acceptable and appropriate behaviour and conduct.”
Entertainment reporter Peter Ford broke the story and told TV Blackbox;
“Daryl has to face this decision of whether you fork out money, whether you believe it’s genuine or whether it’s deserved is another issue, but do you basically pay to make it go away because this man does know all the secrets.
“He’s been privy to everything for a number of years”
A court showdown could prove potentially embarrassing for Gold Logie winner Somers with Ford saying ex-castmates would take the stand to defend Mathey;
“A number of Hey Hey It’s Saturday! regulars have come forward and they have indicated that they would be willing to tell their stories”
Mathey claims Somers has been;
“unwilling and unable to even listen to and acknowledge my concerns.
And issued this final warning;
“Finally, and just to be clear, I fully intend to hold the Somers to account and deal with the matters once and for all.”
Since this story was published Daryl and wife Julie have provided a statement to The Herald Sun;
