Winter might have arrived but the racing continues to hot up on Seven, with Ladies’ Day at Eagle Farm headlining an enticing day on Saturday, when the LIVE and FREE action will also take race fans to Moonee Valley and Rosehill Gardens.
The Group 2 Dane Ripper Stakes (1400m) is the Brisbane Winter Carnival’s major feature race for fillies and mares, and the 2020 edition shapes as an enthralling contest with Irithea, Baccarat Baby and Outback Barbie the top fancies in a strong field.
Australia’s pre-eminent broadcaster Bruce McAvaney will lead Seven’s coverage on Saturday alongside Hamish McLachlan, Henry Dwyer and Katelyn Mallyon.
On an action-packed day at Eagle Farm, The Roses (Group 2, 1800m) will see star three-year-old fillies Vanna Girl, Celestial Falls and Sky Horse do battle, while the Group 3 Eagle Farm Mile and Tattersall’s Cup (2400m) are among the other highlights.
At Rosehill, the Winter Cup (Listed, 2400m) appears likely to be dominated by Chris Waller, with the master trainer set to start five runners in the eight-horse field, including favourite Wu Gok, The Lord Mayor and Yulong Prince.
And, at Moonee Valley, the Inglis July Sales Series Handicap (2040m) headlines a nine-race card, with highly touted German import Django Freeman set to test himself over the Cox Plate course against a deep field that includes Harbour Views, Hang Man and All Too Huiying.
