Foxtel has confirmed adult contemporary Smooth music content will depart the pay-tv platform on June 30.

The easy-listening channel Smooth was produced in partnership with radio group Nova Entertainment. It originally launched as a 24hr channel in 2013, and featured hosts Cameron Daddo and Marcia Hines.

In 2017 the channel was merged with Foxtel Arts, a move with lead the Smooth music programming to be reduced to 18hrs per day.

Foxtel Arts will now return to operating as a 24hr channel from July 1

The departure of Smooth comes after Foxtel recently signed a deal with CBSViacom to outsource the production of all music programming on the platform. A move that will also see the closure of heritage music brand Channel V, along with Max and CMC.
