In one of the most compelling interviews of the year, BRUNO BOUCHET reveals the struggles his client is facing and how Kyle got him through a forced stay in a psychiatric ward
Kyle Sandilands certainly has his detractors, but he also has a loyal group around him who will defend their friend until the very end.
After News Corp journalist Angela Mollard called for Sandilands to be pulled off air, his manager Bruno Bouchet came to his defence on The Ben, Rob & Robbo Show.
Despite being known for his quirky sense of humour with his LIST KING posts, Bouchet gave a very raw and honest interview where he not only defended his friend and client, but also took aim at the journalist over the impact of their story;
“What Angela is doing is very disingenuous to any discussions about mental health to say that if you are suffering mental health you must be taken off air, you cannot make your living, you cannot have your livelihood because you’re dealing with mental issues.”
In her article Mollard took issue with Kyle’s response to messages of support when he said speaking out “was the biggest mistake of my life”. Mollard believes this sends the wrong message to people struggling with mental illness.
But Bouchet fired back saying her commentary was just as damaging;
“She wrote the article saying look I think what Kyle did, did an incredible disservice to mental illness in Australia. And what I would say in response is I think having a go at how someone genuinely is dealing with their own mental illness, I think that’s equally damaging.”
Bouchet then recalled a time when he was admitted to a psychiatric ward against his will for 8 weeks and how Sandilands supported him throughout the ordeal;
“You couldn’t have found a more supportive person than Kyle, who I spoke to every day and who dealt with me in his normal approach.”
Bruno has been invited onto The Ben, Rob & Robbo Show on Thursday to talk about his time in a psychiatric ward as we look into the issue of mental health – the hidden epidemic in Australia. We are grateful he has accepted that request.
