While many of the world’s major sporting events are on hold, SBS is giving fans something to cheer about with a slate of iconic sporting events returning to screens this month.
Classic matches from the FIFA World Cups™ and FIFA Women’s World Cups™, the 2020 All-Around Gymnastics World Cup and the 2019 French Open are just some of the memorable moments that Australians can relive on SBS.

FOOTBALL
From May 21, SBS will air FIFA World Cup™ Classic Matches every Thursday and Sunday, kicking off with the unforgettable 1970 FIFA World Cup™ Final between Brazil and Italy.
The ten classic matches will be introduced by SBS Sport Presenter, Lucy Zelić, and the selected games will feature football legends such as Lionel Messi, Sam Kerr, David Beckham, Pelé, Diego Maradona and Mark Viduka.

Fans can watch the matches on SBS, The World Game website and app, and stream them via SBS On Demand.
On Wednesdays, fans can join Lucy Zelić and Nick Stoll at 1pm for the weekly The World Game LIVE show, as they discuss all the hot football topics. Fans can tune in via @sbstheworldgame on Instagram or via The World Game Facebook pageand join the conversation.
Lucy will put a question to fans every Tuesday and responses will be discussed during the live show the following day.
TENNIS
In place of this year’s postponed French Open, SBS will air Ash Barty’s Road to Glory – all five of Ash’s games from the 2019 French Open. Barty made history last year as the first Australian to win the French Open in 46 years.

BASKETBALL
SBS VICELAND will broadcast the recent NBA 2K Players Tournament, which sees some of the biggest NBA stars competing against each other on the video game, NBA 2K20.
From Monday 11 May, players including top seeds Kevin Durant and Trae Young will compete in a single-elimination, tournament on Xbox One. The winner will be crowned the ultimate ‘NBA 2K20 Champion’ and select a charity beneficiary to receive a $100,000 donation in support of ongoing COVID-19 relief efforts.
