COVID-19 has affected the play out of many series in America such as NCIS, Young Sheldon and Grey’s Anatomy.
When the pandemic hit, most shows had between 1 and 3 episodes remaining to film, meaning whatever episode was last shot became the new season finale, leaving many questions unanswered.
One of the shows affected was The Blacklist (broadcast in Australia on Seven), where they had completed shooting on half of episode 19. In most circumstances, episode 18 would then be used as the season finale however, in this case, producers have opted to use animation to complete that premature season finale episode.
The Hollywood Reporter said actors, including James Spader, recorded dialogue from their homes for the animated scenes, and all animation and editing was done remotely.
The season finale of The Blacklist‘s seventh season, originally set to span 22 episodes, will air May 15 in America. The week prior it airs its 150th episode. The Blacklist has already been renewed for an eighth season.
Episode 9 will air in Australia on May 10th on Channel 7. Expect to see this episode around August.
