With the cancellation of the LOGIES and 140 redundancies at publishing firm Bauer, many have been wondering what the future holds for the iconic TV WEEK.
Bauer publishing, which produces titles like Woman’s Day, TV WEEK and WHO Magazine, has announced plans to make 140 staff redundant and discontinue printing some titles.
The figure was originally 70, but The Guardian is now reporting the much larger number.
The company has not announced which titles will cease, but many have assumed TV WEEK will be a casualty as today’s announcement coincides with last nights news the 2020 logies have been cancelled.
But today on our brand streaming show The Ben, Rob and Robbo Show I exclusively revealed TV WEEK is safe.
There have been rumours the beloved mag will move to digital, but my sources are telling me that is absolutely not the case as the readership for the magazine skews old.
Meanwhile, sources also tell me redundancies were handed out yesterday and those affected were told to return all work materials to the office by Friday.
In another twist, TV Blackbox editor Kevin Perry has confirmed the sale of Pac Mags to Bauer will go ahead.
Perry reports the accounts filed at ASIC contain a parent company undertaking for the sale, meaning Bauer Australia’s parent company has to pay up no matter what happens to local operations.
It’s understood redundancies will occur across both companies.
