Channel 7 has released a slick new promo for @BigBrotherau today, but it was a SUNRISE host who dropped the biggest bombshell. #BBAU

The new promo for Seven’s upcoming Big Brother certainly sets the tone that things are going to be very different this year. As earlier reported by TV Blackbox, a professional voice over artist is playing the part of the booming voice, rather than the traditional Executive Producer.

This change allowed producers to add the voice in post production, rather than require the actor to be on set during the shoot.

Images from the promo also back up reports by TV Blackbox in October that the series is ‘Survivor in a warehouse’, with steel structures seemingly indicating elaborate games to be played in a dedicated room of the house.

But the biggest revelation did not come from the promo, but rather from Weekend Sunrise host Matt Doran revealed the series would air in June. That also backs up reports by former winner Ben Norris who revealed on The Ben, Rob & Robbo Show the series would predominately air in Q3 (i.e. July onwards).

Seven has since confirmed this information in a press release.

Ben will share his thoughts on the teaser on The Ben, Rob and Robbo Show on Monday at 1pm AEST (LIKE the Facebook page HERE)

Take a look at the promo below and let us know your thoughts.

  1. Just want to correct you on a small thing – The Channel 9 version also used a professional voice-over artist (Named Leon Murray). It was only the 10 version that had the EP as BB. Good promo, background music is terrible. And I’m not sold on the voice yet…

    • Yep I seconds this. Leon Murray was BB08’s BB voice as well, which Nine brought over to do their series. I believe he may have been a “Producer” during the few seasons at Nine but not an EP.

Kris Noble and Tim Toni (EP’s of BB 05-07) also weren’t the booming BB Voice for those series.
Nick Colquhoun was the main BB voice during this period and was a “Supervising Producer” but not an EP as mentioned in the article.

Peter Abbott is the only actual Executive Producer that has been the BB voice and that was series 1 – 3. 🙂

  2. Whilst I don’t like the voice, which I think is more to do with the electronic sound they added to it, I’ll still watch regardless, let’s be honest. The house itself is nice, though you can’t tell much by the promos apart from they like colourful lights. This being said, my biggest question still remains, what will the rules be? I’m assuming some sort of hybrid between what we know and the US/Canadian versions, but that’s just a guess.
But if this doesn’t work out, I’ve got ideas on what we could do which I’ll gladly come in next year as the EP and do. As a kid, I grew up dreaming about what I would do if I were the EP. So I am ready people.
