In a move that will surprise no-one, the publishers of TV Week have confirmed the ceremony for this year’s Logies has now been cancelled.
The 62nd TV Week Logie Awards was to have been held on Sunday, June 28, at The Star Gold Coast with the broadcast to be telecast on Nine.
The decision to cancel the event comes at a time when networks are desperate to isolate on-air talent and important production teams, particularly in the various news divisions.
While the ceremony has been cancelled, TV Week has indicated it will still look to present the awards “in some form.”
Fiona Connolly, Bauer Media Group Publisher, confirmed the decision saying;
“Given the global COVID-19 pandemic the 2020 TV WEEK Logie Awards will not proceed as planned on the Gold Coast on Sunday, June 28, nor any of the ancillary public events.
“But we will continue with our nominations announcement and online voting campaign and are working with our partners on a TV broadcast alternative and will advise of those details when we have them.”
Public voting across the “Most Popular” categories is still expected to begin in May.
