Channel 10 has advised it has stopped production on its romantic reality TV show.
There’s more bad news for the television sector with the announcement The Bachelor has been shut down mid production.
In a statement Channel 10 says:
Network 10 and Warner Bros. have decided to suspend production of the new season of The Bachelor Australia.
Although we have been employing extra precautions on set for some time, it is no longer practical to continue with production. The health and safety of our participants and crew members is our number one priority. These are extremely difficult times for all Australians and for our industry, and the full extent of those difficulties will not be known for some time to come.
Our decision to halt production was made after considering all available options. We will resume production when it is safe to do so.
While this decision is disappointing, we remain committed to keeping our audiences entertained and connected in these challenging times. We are also committed to ensuring the television industry remains in as strong a shape as possible so we can continue to bring Australian viewers local content.
Those working behind the scenes will feel the financial pinch due to the fact most people are ‘run of show’ contracts and don’t get paid unless they work. Despite that many within the production sector tell TV Blackbox they want all production shut down until it is safe to work again, even though it means losing an income.
We contacted 10 for information on how many episodes have been recorded and whether this will impact original plans for transmission with a spokesperson telling us;
“We were well into the production of The Bachelor Australia but we were still a few weeks away from wrapping.”
“Production will recommence as soon as we are given the official green light and current Government restrictions have been lifted.”
