    • Hey AngryDeafie – thanks for you comment. I have to apologise and say I’d never considered the need for a transcript for our podcast, because I’d never thought that anyone in the deaf community would care about our little podcast.

It’s absolutely something we can look into. Are there services that the deaf community specifically use for transcription of audio content? Your input will really help. Thank you again for reaching out.

  1. I had the realisation this week while listening to your podcast. The only way I know what is happening on free-to-air TV is by listening to this podcast. I am a 61 yr old male, married, works full time (mostly 6 days), member of a fly fishing club, loves photography, and my home chores keep me occupied for most of my week. How is this relevant? I do not have time to just sit down and watch free-to-air TV and hope something decent comes on that piques my interest. All and I mean all of my TV viewing is either on Catch Up or a streaming service. In our case, Fetch, Netflix, Amazon Prime, and YouTube. Knowing that there is some algorithm used to surmise the viewership of programs based on the OzTam ratings boxes, is it plausible to assume that the viewers who agree to have these boxes in their homes do not necessarily represent the greater community. The only news service I physically listen to is 3AW’s breakfast show on the way to work in the morning. All other radio time in the car is podcasts (including TV Blackbox of course). I do not watch TV news, or buy newspapers. I follow individual journalist (and all TV Blackbox panellist) on Twitter and sort the different political leanings out between the posts and get some sense of what is really going on. It has not affected my life one iota not listening to or reading the daily news in the last 30 years. I enjoy social media because it mostly deals with issues and subjects I have chosen to follow. Again, Life is too short to dedicate time to a medium that can consume a lot of our free time in the hope that their offerings maybe of interest. We have the luxury to cherry-pick our viewing and that is what a lot of my contemporaries and and people I mix with do. I enjoy the banter on your podcast and yes, it is my way of knowing what is happening in the TV world. Keep them coming.
    Regards
    John
