Days after LOCKY GILBERT was officially announced as the 2020 BACHELOR for channel 10’s romantic reality TV show, details have emerged about his female equivalent.

TV Blackbox can reveal Channel 10 has tapped Sharna Burgess to be the next Bachelorette. A fan favourite on the US version of Dancing With The stars, Burgess has also proved popular on the local edition as a judge.

Looking for new opportunities Burgess has spoken openly about her desire to appear on The Bachelorette and was asked by Entertainment Tonight last November about her interest in the channel 10 program;

“I am absolutely looking for love, I’m ready for love. I am getting more and more open to being The Bachelorette”

Podcast contributor (and former winner of Big Brother) Ben Norris broke the news on the latest edition of the TV Blackbox podcast. Norris revealed he had been told who the Bachelorette would be at the same time he was told Locky Gilbert would be The Bachelor, which was before 10’s announcement.

Rumours of Burgess’ appointment have been making headlines for a little while now, but according to Norris;

“The contract is dry and she is going to be The Bachelorette”

Ben also claims former Gogglebox star Angie Kent has been edged with Executives believing there are no more opportunities for her in any of their reality TV shows;

“With Channel 10 having the former Bachelorette Angie Kent on Dancing with the Stars, she kind of was like unceremoniously pushed aside, and it was sort of like ‘bye Angie Kent, we’ll never see you again’ whilst we give solo dances to Sharna Burgess and make her look fantastic”

When approached by TV Blackbox over the casting news a 10 spokesperson said;

“We welcome speculation about the identity of the new Bachelorette. We are thrilled that so many talented and accomplished women have expressed interest in appearing on the show. We are in the very early stages of casting and an announcement will be made in the coming months.”

But they would say that, wouldn’t they!

  1. I am more interested in figuring out who the PINT sized diva presenter is?! Great podcast again this week. Well done.

  2. Let’s hope so! I only know of Sharna Burgess via DWTS but she is talented, articulate and comes across as a genuinely nice person. Hopefully Warners casting find her a decent selection of men, and this is a great experience for her.
