SHOCK NEWS: ANDY LEE joines Channel 7’s THE FRONT BAR

The Seven Network has knocked social media for six tonight, declaring ANDY LEE will be joining THE FRONT BAR

Happy Hour will be extended at The Front Bar in 2020 after the hit Seven footy show pulled off the recruiting coup of the summer, snaring Aussie fan favourite Andy Lee as its newest star.

TV Blackbox understands Lee’s new role on the show will see him appear in a series of pre-taped and live comedy segments throughout the football season. Lee will also be occasionally called upon to guest host the show when one of the regular cast members are unavailable.

Lee most recently produced a series of highly popular comedy sketches, where he played games of ‘Guess Whom‘ with high profile tennis stars including Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic during Nine’s coverage of the Australian Open.

The new role on The Front Bar sees Lee move away from his long term commitment with Channel 9. With production budgets tight, Nine has opted not to commission an additional season of Talking Bout My Generation. Nine is also yet to commit to a second season of Hamish and Andy’s Perfect Holiday despite strong ratings late last year.

Front Bar chief recruiting officer Mick Molloy was ecstatic when – in a shock development – Lee was still available at pick No. 5 in the TV Show Draft.

 ”Obviously, he’ll learn a lot from working with two of the industry giants … and Andy Maher,’’ Molloy said on Friday.

Lee, a Carlton diehard, was equally excited when presented with his first Front Bar flannel ahead of his much-anticipated debut. 

 ”Management and I weighed up all of our available options and it certainly wasn’t just a money issue … it had a lot to do with a lifelong supply of beer which The Morning Show couldn’t match,’’ Lee said.
