HAMISH AND ANDY sell format to big U.S. broadcaster

It’s official: there is nothing HAMISH & ANDY can’t do! Today Australia’s biggest comedy duo are celebrating a deal with NBC television which will see local hit TRUE STORIES be remade for the American market.

The US version will star Ed Helms (“The Office,” “The Hangover”) and Randall Park (“Fresh Off the Boat,” “Always Be My Maybe”) in the roles made famous by Hamish Blake and Andy Lee.

“I can’t wait to bring ‘True Story’ to American audiences with my buddy, Randall Park,” Helms said. “It’s an incredibly warm, hilarious and kind-spirited show that celebrates the lost art of laughing at ourselves … with a little help from epic re-enactments.”

It’s still early days in the production and producers are currently searching for ‘everyday’ people to tell their stories. 

“I’m so excited to be a part of a show that combines three of my favourite things: great stories from real people, my pal Ed Helms, and couches,” Park said.

Hamish and Andy will serve as Executive Producers on the show along with Tim Bartley, Ryan Shelton, Ed Helms, Mike Falbo and Nicolle Yaron, who will also be the showrunner.

When the show first launched in 2017 it drew an impressive 1.282 million viewers. After two seasons Lee and Blake turned their attention to Hamish & Andy’s Perfect Holiday, still with the Nine Network.

Bosses at NBC are sure to be looking at Hamish & Andy’s back catalogue if True Stories proves to be a hit.
