NRL ON NINE: ROUND 24 FOUR DO-OR-DIE CLASHES TO MAKE THE FINALS

The action is starting to heat up as we enter the penultimate round of the NRL regular season, with the finals fast approaching.

Nine will offer the greatest coverage of the NRL finals to date, with new features beginning this week exclusively on 9Now. Previously available during State of Origin, a variety of supplementary video streams will now be available for most matches in addition to the game itself – including player, referee, coach and corner post camera views, and dedicated match statistics.

Starting tonight in NRL Round 24 on Macca’s Thursday Night Footy, the Bulldogs continue their seemingly impossible fairytale of making the finals, and only a win will suffice as they travel up to Townsville to face the tough Cowboys. Apart from Jayden Okunbor coming in on the wing to replace Reimis Smith (suspended) the Dogs field an unchanged side that has become a fortress in defence.

The Cowboys are coming off a gritty win against Penrith and playing at 1300SMILES Stadium for the final time before moving to a new home next season. Captain Michael Morgan was instrumental in their success last week and is pivotal again in a team unchanged by coach Paul Green.

VB Friday Night Footy pits a Broncos side clinging to the top eight in a must-win battle with the Parramatta Eels. When these sides faced off earlier in the year Parramatta romped to a big win. To turn the tables, the Broncos need fullback Anthony Milford to lift in attack and forward sensation David Fifita to go on the rampage as he did against the Rabbitohs last round.

Parramatta will again turn to Clint Gutherson and Mitchell Moses to lead the way in maximum involvement. They gain a big boost in the return of Origin winger Blake Ferguson, who’ll be out to pick up exactly where he left off – scoring stunning tries.

The action shifts to the SCG on Macca’s Saturday Night Footy, with the Panthers facing a daunting do-or-die finals task – defeat the deadly, defending premiers, the Roosters at the SCG which has become a fortress for them. James Maloney will need to be at his wily best, with Nathan Cleary following his lead if an upset is on the cards. Penrith will debut young back-rower Billy Burns, who will be relishing the big moment to make a name for himself against the heavyweights.

Star centre Latrell Mitchell is back for the Roosters, and skipper Boyd Cordner is also a chance of playing as he battles to return from injury. Young hooker Sam Verrills has also been getting comfortable as coach Trent Robinson sweats on the return of co-captain Jake Friend.

On Chemist Warehouse Sunday Footy, the Dragons and Wests Tigers wage war, with the Tigers out to squeak into the NRL finals after years of heartache. Josh Reynolds slots in as hooker for the Tigers, with Robbie Farah out with a broken leg. Luke Brooks will line up against million-dollar halfback Ben Hunt in a struggle that could swing the game.

The Dragons will give young Tristan Sailor, son of Broncos great Wendell, another run at fullback after impressing on debut last week. The Red V need a fast start to gain some confidence and settle in against a gritty Tigers side who have plenty of bite left.
