RECAP | Single mum Jess fell head over heels for Nathan in THE PROPOSAL
TONIGHT ON THE PROPOSAL: SINGLE MUM JESS FELL HEAD OVER HEELS FOR 40-YEAR-OLD SOUTH AUSTRALIAN AMBO NATHAN WHO SEALED THE DEAL WITH A SUCCESSFUL MARRIAGE PROPOSAL IN JUST ONE HOUR!
With her greatest dream to be married, 34-year-old Jess from Lakes Entrance hit THE PROPOSAL stage with one task in mind: to find a husband! Having devoted her twenties to raising daughters Ayla, 15 and Kailee, 13 (both seated in the audience) a nervous Jess took her place in the ‘commitment ring’ ready to meet her eight eligible singles.
As they made their entrance, the front runners emerged with Jess admiring “sweetheart” Nathan’s nice eyes, then zeroing in on 26-year-old Wollongong coal miner Harrison as a “major spunk.”
At the end of round one, Jess sent home IT worker Liam and motion seafarer Liam, both without the promise of a proposal.
The remaining six singles undressed to impress on the beach date. Nathan stole the show in his budgie smugglers, admitting to Jess it wasn’t his normal beach wear. “I’ve got one chance and I’m here to brighten your night.” And it paid off with Nathan progressing to the next round alongside Harrison, 30-year-old former rugby player Paulo and 25-year-old property manager Zane.
But the big reveal on the beach date came when Jess cheekily confronted 33-year-old Melbourne policeman Nesh about their romantic history (a few sneaky pashes) after he failed to recognise her voice in the previous round.
Despite an embarrassed Nesh pleading “it’s meant to be”, Jess said it came down to a lack of chemistry, sending the policemen home at the end of the round along with 38-year-old Sydney marketer, Shayne.
The deal breaker round pulled no punches with Paulo announcing he believed married couples should have sex 21 times a week. Harrison shared his psychic mother predicted he would make it to the final round and steal Jess’ heart. Nathan took the opportunity to firm up his family man status, while Zane was sent home after revealing he worked as a stripper on weekends.
Next, it was over to daughters Ayla and Kailee to grill the remaining three singles, covering off everything from cooking skills to how they would cope living with three women. Jess then narrowed it down to just two men – Nathan and Harrison.
Harrison was first to propose to Jess as Nathan anxiously watched on. “First attraction was mutual Jess. I’ve got a lot of love in my life. My little ones and everyone around me, I would love to involve you in that. Your girls…I don’t know how I would approach that to tell you the truth, but it would be fun. It’s a challenge I’m willing to take on. I’m so excited Jess, I hope you feel the same. I hope mum’s right, I really do. Jess will you join me on a beautiful journey, will you marry me Jess?”
Nathan was up next, declaring he was full of ‘butterflies’ but said it felt right. “Coming into this, I never wanted to grow old and lonely and I know that resonates with you. The minute I heard your voice, I could tell what type of person you were and the qualities and attributes you have. I’m here to give you my all and give this a chance. When I thought I would propose to someone, I’d always imagined it in a traditional way..”
And in a game-winning move, Nathan looked to Jess’ daughters in the audience to ask their permission before proposing to their mum. After receiving a big thumbs up from both girls, he turned to Jess: “Will you do the honour of making all my dreams come true and marry me?”
An emphatic Jess replied: “Yes, yes, yes, yes!”
