EXCLUSIVE | 10 to shoot second series of AUSTRALIAN SURVIVOR this year

Jonathan LaPaglia will be spending more time in the South Pacific this year

In a move that has taken the industry by surprise Channel 10 has ordered an additional season of AUSTRALIAN SURVIVOR before the new series even airs.

TV Blackbox can reveal production company Endemol Shine Australia are in the process of crewing a second series of the iconic reality format to be shot in 2019 but the company faces issues due to the fact key crew members have already been booked on other productions.

Filming is due to commence early August, six weeks after the conclusion of the current series shooting in the South Pacific.

The move was unexpected by Network 10 and suggests the fifth series to air on the network will broadcast earlier in the year in 2020 as a possible replacement for Bachelor In Paradise.

There is also mounting speculation this additional series will be a celebrity edition, although that is not confirmed.

Leaks surrounding the production have been an ongoing issue for the network and those approached about the additional series have been sworn to secrecy, but word is quickly spreading and multiple sources have confirmed this information with TV Blackbox.

In fact leaks within Network 10 have been so bad (and mostly coming to this website) that Chief Content Officer Beverley McGarvey referenced the leaks when talking about an upcoming show that heavily relies on secrecy, according to the TV Tonight newsletter:

10 had a trade event for clients this week around upcoming shows. In a presentation to staff Beverly McGarvey joked that Masked Singer was a bold play "considering how good we are at keeping things a secret up to the TX date."
