FOX FOOTY has made the decision not to continue with its late-night LIVE comedy experiment Up The Guts

Hosted by comedian Lawrence Mooney, the edgy footy show had been airing immediately after Friday night games. However, the show failed to gain much love from footy fans.

With the AFL Finals series approaching, Fox Footy will now return to providing extended analysis of Friday night matches including more interviews with coaches and players.

Fox Footy had held high hopes for the show at the launch of the 2019 season, with Mooney telling TV Blackbox;

“Up The Guts” is part of our love for this game and the irreverence that goes with it. We’re going take an irreverent look at the footy, have a laugh about it after the game.

To have an entertainment show that is live, there’s the adrenaline that comes with it, everyone is on their toes and if there’s a fault or a problem, you ride through and it becomes part of the fabric of the show.”

It's been a busy year for Mooney whom has also been hosting breakfast radio for Triple M in Sydney. TV Blackbox understands Mooney will remain part of the Fox Sports line-up via regular appears on The Back Page and The Beep Test.
