Beloved TV personality Kerri-Anne Kennerley has announced the tragic passing of her husband John, who became wheelchair bound after a fall in 2016.

KAK, as she is affectionately known, was always by his side trying to make sure he maintained a quality of life. I witnessed this first hand at the premiere of Avengers: Infinity War in Sydney. I was sitting in the second row of the raised section with a wonderful view of the screen. KAK came in with John and sat in the wheelchair section directly in front of me. Straight away, Kerri-Anne noticed John’s wheelchair was obstructing my view, so she invited me and my friend to sit with them in the reserved section she was in. She didn’t know who I was as she only recognised me when the lights came up at the end of the film, she did it because of her caring nature for everyone.

During the movie I watched as she snuggled with John and fed him ice cream. She really seemed to be in love. I walked away with an understanding and respect of their relationship after just seeing them together for a short time. I admired it.

Kerri-Anne announced the sad news on instagram;

'It's with a heavy heart and awful sadness that I let you know that my beautiful husband John passed away last night,' she wrote alongside a photograph of the pair on their wedding day.

'As you all know, John has faced some tremendous challenges over the past few years and with each he has been extraordinarily brave and determined to overcome those hurdles and live a normal life.

'I want to thank everyone at St Vincent's Hospital for the beautiful care they have provided to John in his last days. John passed away peacefully with his son Simon and me by his side. John, you were the love of my life. Xxx

Kerri-Anne, our thoughts are with you and your family at this tragic time.
