EXCLUSIVE | 10 secures Australia's Best Race Caller for 2019 Melbourne Cup Carnival
The 10 network has put the finishing touches on its star-studded line up of experts for this years Melbourne Cup Carnival by securing the services of Austalia's best race caller.
TV Blackbox can confirm the highly respected voice of Matt Hill will call this years carnival, including the 'race that stops a nation', on 10.
10 has secured the services of Hill, after negotiating a deal with racing.com where he is under contract. The dedicated free-to-air racing channel is owned in partnership by Racing Victoria, and previous rights holder of the carnival, the Seven Network.
The deal will ensure the call by Hill will be simulcast by 10 and racing.com, which has also maintained broadcast rights for the event.
The $8 million Lexus Melbourne Cup is the focal point of the carnival and is watched by more than 700 million people worldwide. This will be Hill's third time calling the Cup, after replacing Greg Miles in 2017.
racing.com CEO Andrew Catterall welcomed the deal allowing Hill to be heard on both channels, telling TV Blackbox;
"We think Matt Hill is the best caller in Australia, and it is a terrific credit to him that we have been able to secure commercial arrangements for his race call to be used by 10, in addition to his ongoing role as a central part of racing.com's on course race day broadcast team, across the four days of the VRC Melbourne Cup Carnival ".
A spokesperson for 10 also welcomed the deal adding;
"We are delighted to have Victoria's leading race caller, Matt Hill calling the Melbourne Cup.
The networks line-up of experts, reporters and hosts will also include Francesca Cumani, Matt White, Roz Kelly, Peter Moody, David Gately, Michael Felgate, Caty Price, Brittany Taylor, Anna Heinrich, Kate Peck, Beau Ryan and Scott Tweedie.
