Viewers prefer Cricket over Tennis on big sporting Friday night
Despite plenty of commentary to the contrary, Test Cricket is not dead yet, with significant audiences tuning in on Friday to watch the Day/Night Pink Ball Test between Australia and Sri Lanka.
A national combined audience of 1,065,000 tuned in for the third session of the Test match last night across SEVEN and FOX CRICKET. That figure includes a Free-To-Air audience of 816,000 and 249,000 on Fox Cricket.
The average audience for the combined Seven/Fox Cricket audience was up +6% on Day 2 of the recent AUS vs IND series and on par with the Ashes same day last year.
The one -sided semi-final between Djokovic and Puoulle had a national audience of 1.063 million watching the match in isolation, while the extended Friday night tennis broadcast had a national audience of 706,000
Outside of Sport, the Australian of the Year announcement on ABC had a national audience of 528,000 including a metro audience of 353,000.
Overall the Seven Network had a metro share of 43.1% on Friday, compared with 35.6% on NINE and 21.3% on 10.
