The final four teams now make their way to Beijing for Friday night’s semi-finals with the winners advancing to the World Cup Final on Sunday.
In the first semi-final the Aussies will face the also undefeated Spain with LIVE coverage beginning at 5.50pm on FOX SPORTS More 507. The stage is set for a thrilling battle since the teams’ last battle saw Spain deny the Boomers by one point of their first medal in a major tournament at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
FOX SPORTS will deliver the most comprehensive coverage of the Boomers semi-final with FOX SPORTS expert commentator Matt Russell and Boomers legend Shane Heal to call all the action.
Shane Heal said:
“The Boomers are on fire and now have the opportunity to have a swing at the big dogs, Spain. When you look at the history of world basketball, Spain have done it before and are a team expected to win medals, and are a team who have dominated the European competition for a long time.
“Australia are just a different group of players, they have played together for a long time, they have players with NBA experience, they have comradery and most importantly they’ve got the belief they can knock off a team like Spain. And for them to make this top four, they can potentially win a medal and we are all hoping they will. The Spanish team have the experience and are a tough team to crack, but I have a feeling it is meant to be for the Boomers.”
Following Boomers v Spain, Argentina and France will chase their spots in the World Cup Final as they go head-to-head in the second semi-final after having successful quarter-final performances with Argentina knocking out Serbia and France causing an upset for Team USA. LIVE coverage begins at 9.50pm on FOX SPORTS More 507.
