After a tumultuous six months, that saw her axed from TODAY, and her husband boned from the network, popular presenter Sylvia Jeffries has secured a new four-year contract at NINE.

In a weekend interview with News Corp’s ‘Stellar’ magazine, Jeffries confirmed NINE was still backing her by tearing up an existing contract which was due to expire next year, and offering her a new deal which will see her remain part of the NINE line-up for the next four years.

“I’m feeling very supported and encouraged,” “It can be hard to feel complete confidence in yourself when sands are shifting, but I’m thrilled NINE is backing me and showing that commitment to me.”

The 33-year-old presenter has worked consistently at NINE since she was 17, where she started as an autocue operator in the Brisbane newsroom.

After being axed from TODAY, Jeffries was assured a ‘brand-new project’ at the network. So far this has meant working as a journalist for A CURRENT AFFAIR.

In discussing her sudden departure from TODAY, Jeffries conceded she was utterly ‘blindsided’ by decision, and had felt like ‘collateral’ damage as the network sought to put a stop to negative headlines regarding brother-in-law Karl Stefanovic.

“It was a lot to digest all at once,” “It was an interesting dynamic but, in a sense, (both Sylvia and Peter losing their jobs) helped us immensely. We understood what each other was experiencing and the range of emotions that were being felt. I’m glad it happened when it did because we both turned to each other. But we’re pretty good at that.”

The contract renewal comes as her husband, Peter Stefanovic prepares for a Breakfast TV return at a new home. The former host of Weekend Today now present FIRST EDITION on SKY NEWS alongside existing host Laura Jayes.

The new breakfast hosting gig will see Stefanovic once again working with Mark Calvert. The former Today executive producer is now the Head of Programming at SKY and has also recruited Tim Gilbert to present the weekend edition of the SKY breakfast program.
