TV and Radio personality Meshel Laurie reveals why 2019 has been so hard.
After hitting rock bottom the popular presenter has pulled back from her commitments on The Project and her radio gig. She’s also turned her back on social media, a platform she was heavily engaged in.
This story is beautifully honest as Meshel talks about the bad times, including how she turned to alcohol and contemplated suicide.
It’s also a story of coming through the other side (which is still a work in progress) and how the kindness of strangers can make all the difference.
I’m not sure why I am supposed to have sympathy. This woman had no trouble goading Margaret Court in the pile-on against her for her views on Christianity and marriage – which was the law of the land until a year ago.
I cannot believe that she would expect anything less of Twitter. How could you not expect the most vile messages to be posted? Doesn’t she know Twitter is a sewer? It’s just dumb to hang out there if you are a celebrity. Or masochistic. Also, she has incredible lack of self-awareness. So it’s terrible how people who don’t like her opinions tweet… but then she can hurl abuse at the Prime Minister or other conservatives whose opinion SHE doesn’t like, and that’s fine. Cry me a river.
