What's New In Streaming For The Next Seven Days

Streaming Guide November 9 – November 15

Homecoming: Season 1 (Prime Video, Available Now)

This one came out last week, but I forgot about it – and now it’s the show critics are talking about. Created by Sam Esmail (Mr. Robot), Homecoming follows Heidi Bergman (Julia Roberts), a former caseworker at the Homecoming Transitional Support Centre. This private organisation’s stated purpose is to help veterans readjust to living at home, but when a Department of Defence auditor starts asking Heidi questions about why she left, she begins to question the nature of her previous work.

The Bold Type: Seasons 1-2 (Stan, November 9)

I just watched the pilot episode for this show and all I want to do now is watch the next one. Inspired by the life of Joanna Coles, former Editor-in-Chief of Cosmopolitan, The Bold Type follows three young women working at Scarlet Magazine: social media director Kat (Aisha Dee), fashion assistant Sutton (Meghann Fahy) and newly promoted writer Jane (Katie Stevens) as they explore their identities, sexuality and love, with some guidance from Editor-in-Chief Jacqueline Carlyle (Melora Hardin). Season 3 of The Bold Type will stream exclusively on Stan the same day as the U.S.

Super Drags: Season 1 (Netflix, November 9)

This adult animated show is the superhero show we’ve all been waiting for. By day, Patrick, Ralph and Donizete are three young gay men who lead mundane lives working at a department store, dealing with annoying customers and a demanding boss. By night, they unleash their inner Diva to become Lemon Chiffon, Safira Cian and Scarlet Carmesim: three incredibly fabulous Super Drags who are recruited to bring down Lady Elza, the evil Drag Queen who has been committing hate crimes against the LGBT community by attempting to take away all the glitter in the world.

Castle Rock: Season 1 (Foxtel, November 12)

Stephen King adaptations have had varying degrees of success over the years. Created by Sam Shaw and Dustin Thomason, Castle Rock is an anthology science fiction and horror series set in the Stephen King Universe, in the titular town that was the setting for several of King’s novels. André Holland, Melanie Lynskey, Bill Skarsgård (also in 2017’s It adaptation), Jane Levy and Sissy Spacek star as beloved Stephen King characters.

The Plague: Season 1 (SBS On Demand, November 15)

The Black Death descends on Seville, one of the richest and most significant cities in the world. It’s the doorway to Europe for migrants from the New World, and it is a city cloaked in Catholic piety. Pursuit of power is fuelled by fear and greed, and hypocrisy abounds. Mateo (Pablo Molinero), a former heretic, must return to the city that sentenced him to death to honour the dying wish of his friend. On arrival in Seville, Mateo is arrested, but the Holy Office offers Mateo a proposal for absolution – solve the murders in the city which all seem to be part of a demonic ritual, and he will be pardoned. Mateo is soon drawn into a conspiracy which reaches the very heights of power in Seville.
